Bentonite clay has been highly valued by many cultures across the world for thousands of years. Our clay was formed from volcanic ash that has been stored for eons in Australian seabeds. It has been carefully selected for its purity and performance for all your wellness protocols and your body care applications.
While in its natural state, bentonite clay has negatively charged molecules. Most toxins and heavy metals have positively charged molecules so the two attract each other and bind together. This process is what makes bentonite clay a versatile purification powerhouse.
It also contains an abundance of essential minerals including calcium, magnesium, silica, sodium, copper, iron and potassium.
It is finely milled to 45 microns and easily combines with water to use as a detox drink and forms a smooth paste for external application.
Internally as a detox drink:
- Removes heavy metals
- General wellness detox to improve fatigue
- Digestive complaints like diarrhea, bloating and constipation
- Aids with weight loss and reducing cholesterol
- Boosts immunity by killing harmful bacteria and viruses
Externally as a paste:
- Anti inflammatory for acne
- Face or body mask to purify skin
- Nappy rash and skin irritations
- Antibacterial for teeth and gums
- Clean and soften hair
- Natural deodoriser
How to prepare Bentonite Clay
Internal detox drink:
Sprinkle 1 heaped teaspoon in water and stir until dissolved. Consume before bed for 30 days and increase daily water intake during detox.
Important: Consume bentonite clay at least 2 hours before or after taking any medications. Bentonite clay may bind to some medications and reduce their effectiveness.
External preparations:
Face mask: blend 1 part bentonite to 2 parts water, and mix into a smooth paste. Apply a thin layer to face and neck. Bacteria and toxins living on the surface of the skin and within pores are drawn out and bind to the clay. After 10 minutes has passed, remove with warm water. Apply the clay mask once per week for optimal results.
Full body mud pack: in a large bowl blend bentonite clay and water to a consistency of thick mud and apply all over your body. After 10-15 minutes has passed, wash off the clay in the shower.
Clay bath: gradually add a quarter cup to a warm bath and soak for 20 minutes for a refreshing topical body therapy that softens the skin and clears pores. You can either sprinkle the clay on the water and mix as you go, or pre-mix in a bowl and add this liquid to your bath.
Foot soaks: use 2 tablespoons of bentonite clay in a relaxing warm foot bath for 10 minutes. Be sure to rinse feet off in plain water afterwards.
Powder substitute: clay is a wonderful, natural and safe alternative to talc and baby powder.
Teeth and gums: use bentonite clay as a toothpaste by mixing a 1:1 ratio of clay and water or until you reach a thick paste like consistency. You can also use the detox recipe above as a mouthwash. As you swish the liquid around in your mouth it will bind to the toxins and bacteria on your teeth, gums and tongue.
Tips: with any of these methods, do not use metal utensils for mixing or storage as this could reduce its potency. It is best to sprinkle the clay into liquid, rather than pour liquid onto clay as it will hydrate the clay more evenly.
